The exterior shell, whose metal casing lends the structure a technical character, heralds from afar the building‘s use:
Microelectronics, formerly supplied from all over Europe, are now produced in the company‘s existing headquarters.
The addition to the existing production hall enables the new products to be processed in an expedient operation sequence
without costly intermediate storage. In order to adjust the high tech elements to market changes, a high level of flexibility is required within the new production building. The structural frame is therefore constructed so that it spans the entire hall column-free. Two pairs of girders, with a span of up to 46 metres, make up the cubic roof constructions, which are glazed to the north, supplying the hall‘s interior with non-glaring daylight. The production process is thus able to respond and adjust to specific demands.
The hall is constructed as two storeys in some areas, with offices and conference rooms located on the upper level, the access paths of which also serve as observation platforms for production activity taking place below. Despite the mainly closed façade, all workrooms have outside views and are supplied with daylight via horizontal light bands. On three sides of the ground floor there is a continual light band that is situated at eye level, emphasizing the horizontal structure of the aluminium clad façade
