A new training centre is being built on behalf of the Saarland Chamber of Crafts according to plans by Gerber Architekten. The new building will redevelop the area between the listed Pingusson building, the Westspange and the administrative headquarters of the Saarland Chamber of Crafts. Now that the building permit has been granted, construction work will be able to start at the beginning of 2022.
As a glass passage, an atrium and a workshop courtyard run through the building solitaire and provide insights into the diversity of the skilled trades. The planned catering area with adjoining terrace on the ground floor offers a view of a listed park area.
The training centre of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts forms another building block of the new educational location in Alt-Saarbrücken, adjacent to the University of Applied Sciences (HTW). At the same time as the building permit was granted by Lord Mayor Uwe Conradt, Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier and Saarland Minister of Economics Anke Rehlinger handed over the funding notices for the new building of the HWK training centre. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2024.
