The central idea of our work is, within the multiplicity of possiblities, to restrict ourselves to those few well suited elements using them with beautiful proportions and meld them together in an aesthetically pleasing solution.
Prof. Eckhard Gerber
Our goal, as a team of architects, interior designers, engineers, urban planners and landscape designers, is to create built environments that affect people and awaken their desires; places people like to visit and linger in: spaces that are tangible and logically accessible. These should be structures that improve the urban and landscaped environment with their beauty and in their simplicity, and contain exciting spatial arrangements, which are clear and obvious with regards to the orientation between inside and out.
More than 50 years of experience, we can offer a wealth of expertise, competence and excellence. We currently employ of 340 staff organized in project teams consisting of architects, interior designers, landscape designers, engineers and surveyors in our offices in Dortmund, Hamburg, Berlin, Münster, Riyadh and Shanghai.
Our services range from consulting, project development for all stages of the German HOAI including cost and construction management – and also as general planners. Through the intensive communication with our clients we develop common goals in order to develop exciting and quality designs which are produced efficiently and economically.
Precise cost calculation and adherence to the budget are basic requirements for our work. Planning and construction time follow professional construction schedules, which are set up and supervised by our experienced project management team.
In Meschede in 1966, with the firm ”Werkgemeinschaft 66” Eckhard Gerber began his self-employed activity as independent architect. This start in business was based upon successful involvement in architecture competitions — he first began producing competition entry designs as a student. After the tragic death of his partner, Dirk Stelljes, Eckhard Gerber continued the office with a new headquarters in Dortmund – from 1981 under the name “Professor Gerber und Partner”. Over the years of successful work the office, which has been called “Gerber Architekten” since 2002, has seen steady growth. It counts 200 dedicated and experienced team members. Besides our headquarters in Dortmund there has been since 2007 an office in Hamburg, and since 2011 our office in Berlin and the locations Münster, Riyadh and Shanghai have been added.
