In Saudi Arabia‘s capital Riyadh, construction work on the largest infrastructure project in the country‘s history is currently taking place at different locations. It is planned to build a subway network with six lines and a length of about 176 kilometers. The entire network will in future comprise over 80 stations and four main transfer stations. For one of these four interchange stations, Gerber Architekten were awarded first prize in an international architecture competition in 2012. Construction work is progressing well and is expected to be completed in 2019.
