The design by Gerber Architekten divides the different hotel functions between separate building elements which merge at their interface to become one sculptural unit. The interlinked orthogonal volumes create an urbane, free-standing building with carefully considered, space-defining edges. The resulting form addresses the Promenadenring of Leipzig and, by deliberately drawing back from the site boundary, provides additional public external spaces.

The outer appearance of the hotel is influenced by the façade of the listed main station building. The vertical emphasis of the composition of the facade and the use of natural stone are picked up and transformed into a contemporary design.
