Over 150 flats are being built on Sportplatzring in Hamburg as part of the Neue Mitte Stellingen development. The residential construction project is an addition to construction site A, which was completed in 2020 with 55 flats and an associated daycare centre. Construction site B comprises areas for residential development, retail and services. Embedded in a park-like landscape with mature trees, both residential buildings form a new district centre in the middle of a heterogeneous environment of detached houses and multi-storey residential buildings. The design of individual building volumes creates 14 ‘houses’ staggered in height and positioned in different groupings. Each of the 1-5 room flats has a balcony or terrace. With the typical regional clinker brick façade and the combination of housing and retail, a new centre with a high quality of life and living is being created near Hagenbeck’s zoo.
