The plot designated for the study is in an important location for urban planning, right next to Bochum main station on the corner of Universitätstraße and Südring. Currently the site contains a multi-storey car park which was built above a Second World War air-raid shelter. Responding to the relatively small area of the plot and its special location, a new high-rise student residence with over 400 apartments has been designed. The car park will be demolished and the new building constructed on top of the underground structures.
