On the site of former Leighton Barracks of US Army, the Hubland area emerges – a new and innovative residential quarter with surfaces. The 95 hectare large surface located in the northern part of Würzburg is first of all characterized by its proximity to the city centre, its extensive green areas and its excellent infrastructure. In the course of planning and realization, the new district has been divided into several individual quarters, all of which are developed via the new extended Rottendorfer Straße. Gerber Architekten were commissioned by the client, the FAK GmbH & Co. KG, to plan the “Quartier 1”, that is formed by more than 85 student apartments in six different cubist multi-family houses.
