On February 17th, the German Bauherrenpreis 2016 was awarded. Amongst nine other projects, the Quarter of Nations in Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg, by Gerber Architekten was given a prize. Building owner is the SAGA Siedlungsaktiengesellschaft Hamburg.

The jurys statement says, the project shows “in an impressive way how subsidized housing, high energy standards and outstanding architecture interact very well with each other.” Furthermore the judges describe the design of the buildings: “The design approach with its subtle brick facade and sculptural roofs create a connection to the existing buildings and emphasize modern living requirements at the same time.”

Lead by Muck Petzet, Architekt BDA, the jury awarded ten projects with a prize and ten more projects with an acknowledgement.

The German Bauherrenpreis is given to projects with “High Quality with Acceptable Costs” since 1986.
