On November 12th, three new buildings of the institute for physics at the University of Rostock will be inaugurated.
Based on the masterplan for the south city-campus of the University of Rostock, Gerber Architekten built three new buildings which include a teaching- and science building as well as the department for „Life, Light & Matter”. The shifted buildings combine and concentrate those functions in one place. Undercuts, terraces and yards grant a sculptural character to the ensamble which is emphasized by the material of the façades.
Gerber Architekten won the design competition in 2008. After the groundbreaking in December 2010, the building process was started in April 2011. In June 2015 all three school buildings were finished.
